Windows

Yay, the windows are now in!

Starting to Look Like a House!
Wow, it IS starting to take shape. And this next picture shows the JumboTEX they use to help seal it up. Dad and I talked about all this. Will be interesting to see how much they seal up and how much they let it breathe.

Other Side
And, speaking of dad, here is some info on the windows. Maybe he'll call/email with his opinion. From my reading of the manufacturer's website and a few other articles, this looks like a good window. Maybe comparible to the ones we installed in Santa Monica? The ones in Santa Monica seemed more sturdy, but maybe these will seem more sturdy when the walls are built up around them.

Window Data
These pics were from yesterday, April 12th. We didn't go by today, except for me as I drove by for Summer's daycare. Basically, from the outside, they formed in the front steps and have started putting that sealing paper on the roof, which means the shingles should be going on soon, and I heard that the siding is scheduled to go up. I don't know the schedule, I just know that it is scheduled, so I assume it is soon, too! Finally, some progress!

Views from Inside

OK, when you walk in through the front door, you turn left and there will be the family room/sitting room/front room. Whatever you want to call it. They call it Living Room. You can see the view we'll have from the front windows. The view looks much better in person.

Living Room / Front Room
This next picture is of the fire place in the great room/family room. Again, another room with two names. Funny how the fireplaces, being gas and fake logs and all, look entirely complete, while the rest of the house will build up around them.

Family Room Fireplace
This room is easy to name, it's simply "The Master Bedroom"

Master Bedroom Fireplace
This fireplace was not built into the framing initially. They put the door to the adjacent bedroom in the wrong place and no room for the fireplace. That set them back a little, but we noticed it early and made them get on it. The framers were working until well past 7PM the next day. So, whew...it's in there now! :-)

Lastly, we go down in the basement. Here they are hard at work putting in the HVAC, plumbing and gas lines. Everything down here looks about as it will when the house is closed. We're going to finish it ourselves...someday.

Unfinished Basement - Will Remain This Way

OK, that's about it, and catches up to about April 10th.

Walk Around

OK, so it's been a while. Not much to show, as progress is slow, and it's just more wood being added. But, this series of pics shows the entire outside of the house after the framing is basically complete (they have to come back in after plumbing and HVAC for minor things, but this is basically it).
